Monteverde Friends School is a bilingual, Pre-K–12, Quaker school located in the cloud forest of Costa Rica. Monteverde Friends School nurtures and teaches the whole person and sees the building of community as the foundation for a rigorous academic program. We successfully prepare students to study in rigorous institutions of higher education in both Costa Rica and the United States.

At Monteverde Friends School you have the opportunity to receive transferable credits for your high school in the United States while being immersed in a bilingual, Costa Rican community. Students may choose to study in Monteverde for a semester or a year. Math, science, history, and literature are taught in English. Costa Rican social studies and Spanish literature classes are taught in Spanish. There is an individualized Spanish as a Second Language program available for those not prepared to do academic work in Spanish. In addition, there are classes in music, drama, human sexuality, and physical education. The school arranges home stays for un-accompanied international students in grades 10-12 with host families.

Monteverde Friends School is affordable, bilingual, Quaker, community-based, and spiritually grounded. We welcome you to join our student community. We have openings for un-accompanied international students in grades 10-12 and for accompanied students in all grades.
